How to Write Your Own Hardship Letter

You do not need to use a sample hardship letter we provide. You can easily write your own. There are two very important things to consider before drafting a hardship letter.

If you are applying for a loan modification then how will your hardship affect your ability to repay a modified payment?

If you are applying for a short sale then how can you show that you simply can’t afford to make the payments anymore?

Perhaps the most important element of the hardship letter is explaining to your lender why it is in THEIR BEST INTEREST to grant you a loan modification or a short sale. This is a subtle necessity that needs to be in the hardship letter you write, meaning, you don’t have to come out and say, “It’s in your best interest to grant me a loan modification because…” Your bank will crunch numbers and determine its in your best interest. The point is, make your hardship clear, to the point understandable, verifiable etc.

Keep the letter short. No one in a loss mitigation office wants to read pages and pages of your problem. A pne page letter is best.

1) I have loss my job. I am 65 years of age it will be hard for me to find another job with the job market at this time.

2) I have try B of A my current mortgage holder but didn’t qualify for a re-finance. I have also try a credit union where I bank and I didn’t qualify there either.

Please help me!!!!
